Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

After reading this newspaper article, I agree with what it is saying one hundred percent. People should not ever get rewarded with something from doing nothing; people need to earn their living and work hard to get what they want.  Teenagers need to become more independent and only receive what they earn. If someone complains about not having any money but don't do anything about it, they don't want it bad enough.  Teenagers today need to start earning their rewards, not crying about not getting one.

What is a Public Service Announcement? If you don't know what it is, Google it. In your own words, now tell me what it is? What are they used for? Can you recall an example of a PSA you've seen before?

A Public Service Announcement is a nonprofit form of advertising to the media. They are available to nonprofit organizations, but have to follow the same guidelines as advertising that is paid. A PSA is not just free advertising; they have to include a public service message, and not just promoting an organization.  An example of a PSA that I've seen on television is about sad, abused animals that have been saved, and they need to be adopetd.

Monday, August 25

After watching the short clip of Ashton Kutcher's acceptance speech what did you take away from his advice? What does this quote mean to you -"Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use."

After watching Ashton Kutcher's inspiring acceptance speech, I took away what he was saying about how we can use the people around us to change and influence our own life that we build.  We should't just live a life, but we should build a life for ourselves. Everyday, I see people not making their own choices because they feel like they will be judged, so they have to get others opinions on every decision they make even if it doesn't make them happy.  We should all just build a life that will make us happy, not other people happy.  I also find myself doing that sometimes, where I ask opinions on things that I should make the decision for, and that speech really inspired me to try as best as I can to stop asking for others opinions on things that I should be deciding.
