For my Emerging Technology final, we had to learn about our family tree. I interviewed both of my grandma's, and sent my Great Aunt, Joann the email. You can find the email here, and the interviews here. For the Prezi, I went into more detail on my dad's side of the family. For the Infographic, I went into more detail on my mom's side. With the information I found, I was able to make a very detailed family tree. You can find it here.

What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Do you have any traditions? Go in to detail about your plans for the 5 day weekend.
For Thanksgiving and Easter, we switch off every other year with what side of the family we celebrate with. For example, this year we will be going to Jeff City to celebrate Thanksgiving with my dad's side, and then we will stay here with my mom's side for Easter, and then next year it will switch. We leave for Jeff City on Wednesday, and it's about a three hour drive, so it's not too bad. We stay at my grandparent's house, which I have to say is awesome because it's gigantic and super fun. On my dad's side, there are thirteen cousins and they are all girls, so spending time with my dad's side is so much fun. In my grandparent's house, the grand kids have their own room, and it has three beds in it; one for me and one for each of my sisters. We get the beds because my other cousins all live in Jeff City, so if they sleepover at my grandparents, they're stuck on the floor. My two oldest cousins and I also go hardcore Black Friday shopping. We wake up around four a.m., and get tons of stuff. To be honest, I like my dad's side a lot better because my mom just has a sister that is six years older than her, and she has twins that are twenty-three and a son that is twenty-five, so it's not as fun.

Reflecting on the comments and grade of your stop-motion animation... what you would do differently if you had to do it all over again? Would you manage your time better? Find better lighting for your photos? Come up with a better idea? Explain what you would change about your video.
If I had to do my stop motion animation over again, I wouldn't choose a different idea because I liked my idea, but I would manage my time better. I waited to do it until the night before, and I ended up having to come in early the day it was due to make the final touches, and the letters ended up in a different spot in the final copy than in the copy I had before I published, and that was very frustrating for me. I also would've fixed the shadows, but like I said, I did it last minute and didn't have time to perfect it.

Tell me about your weekend.
This weekend, there was the sub state football game, and we played Olathe North, and unfortunately lost the game 14-21, but on Saturday there was a cheer competition at Blue Valley Southwest, and we won! It was such a fun competition and it was fun seeing all of my friends on the other teams compete. While all of this was going on, I also went to Adrenaline Dance Convention. I missed two classes and the scholarship auditions for the competition, but that wasn't a big deal. On Saturday night, I went to the Hunter Hayes concert in a suite for my friend Mallory's birthday. It was an amazing concert and I had a blast.

Tell me about your experience with taking your stop-motion photos. What problems did you run in to? What did you find difficult about the process? What would you go back and change about HOW you took the photos? Explain yourself.
The only problem I ran into was that when the Ouija board is playing the game you can't see which letter the Ouija is going to to answer the question, but that won't be a huge problem because everyone knows the answer to the question, so it doesn't matter. I didn't really find it difficult at all other than the fact that it was very time consuming. I would change the angle I took the pictures from, if I could. I would've rather taken them from a birds eye view angle, but it wouldn't have been possible with the materials I was dealing with.

What is your idea? How is your idea innovative and creative? How are you going to execute your idea?
For my stop motion animation, I am going to do my project on the Ouija board. It's a board game that was also made into a movie. In the board game, the Ouija moves very slowly and not always accurately, but in my stop motion animation, the board will move very quickly and will give an accurate answer to the question that will be asked. I will have a few friends come over and play the game and I will take the pictures as they are playing.

What is stop motion animation? If you don't know, look it up! Explain.
Stop motion animation is a technique used to makes static objects appear as if they were moving. It is commonly used in claymation and puppet-based animation. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. Dolls with movable joints or clay figures are often used in stop motion for their ease of re positioning.

Tell me about your idea for your 5 frame story board. What is the plot? How do you plan to make the story creative? Who's the main character? What is the beginning, middle and end? Tell me about your plan of attack.
My story is how to make a peanut butter and nutella sandwich. The main character is my sister, Haley. The first step is a picture of the ingredients. The next are spreading the peanut butter on a piece of bread, and then the nutella on the other, cutting the bread, and finally, eating the sandwich.

Yesterday you edited and uploaded photos to your blog. Tell me more about your photos. HOW did you edit them? Why did you choose the photos that you did? Explain your assignment.
I chose my five favorite photos to edit. I mainly added contrast, saturation, and sharpness to make it look like the picture was taken with a professional camera.

Over the weekend, I went to two Halloween parties, one at Chase Espy's house, and one at Nikki Fritz's house, and I had lots of fun at both. Before we went to the parties, two of my friends and I went to Chipotle because if you wore your costume burritos and burrito bowls were onlythree dollars. On Sunday, I celebrated my sisters birthday with my family.

What do you know about photography and/or photo editing? Do you take photos? How do you take photos? Do you edit photos before posting them on social media? How do you edit them? Explain any background or knowledge you have about photography and photo editing. Do you like it? Do you have any interest?
I do take photos on my phone and edit them before posting them on social media. I take photos with my friends and random things sometimes, too, but I usually only post pictures of my friends and I on social media. When posting on instagram, I either just use the filters on the actual instagram app with squaready, but if I really want to edit a picture, I will also use aviary and facetune. Squaready is just an app that puts a white border around the picture which I really like, and facetune and aviary are just apps with filters and brightness, contrast, sharpness, saturation, etc. changes.

Tell me about your weekend. Share pics!
This weekend I went to the Blue Valley game, and we beat Gardner 70-20. The theme this week was pink out, and also the little girls clinic for the cheerleaders. This
means that BV Cheer has a clinic on a Saturday for kids in kindergarten to eighth grade where they learn cheers, and then cheer for the first quarter of the next game. It is super fun and also we raise lots of money.

Below is a letter written to the editor who wrote the article 'Enforcement of dress code creates negative effect' that your blogged about last week. Most of you wrote on your blog that you agreed with the writer. What are your thoughts after reading the letter below and seeing a different perspective. Are they the same? Are the different? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.
The perspective is different, and I don't disagree, but I don't agree either. I agree with certain points that were made in this letter, and I agree with certain points in the article because I see where both views are coming from. I agree with the point this letter made about any teacher, whether they know the student or not, can tell you to follow the Blue Valley High School rules, but the rules were taken a little too far; for example, the 'thumb rule' is not necessary. Everyone's arms are different lengths, so I think that as long as you can't see anything hanging out of the bottom of the shorts, they are fine to wear to school. I disagree with the whole "there's a time and place for certain attire" comment because I think that if a student feels most comfortable wearing spaghetti straps then why can't they? Shoulders don't distract boys from learning because everyone has shoulders, and everyone's shoulders look the same. I understand where you are coming from when you say that we shouldn't wear short shorts to school, but teachers tell the students to change when the shorts cover everything. I think the dress code is a good thing so students don't get out of hand, but it should be a little less strict.

The perfect curriculum would be going to school four days a week, year round with a few breaks. We should go to school for a month, and then get a month off. The perfect set of classes to prepare everyone for the life they want to live would be allowing every student to choose every class they take with no requirements. These classes would have homework only one night a week that would take an hour maximum to complete, and a test at the end of each week for a review of what you learned. For example, if they don't want to have a job that involves science, they shouldn't be required to take it. The titles of the courses would be the same, but every student can take whatever classes they want depending on their interests, and future jobs. I would take more math and business classes because I want to go into accounting and tax law. I wouldn't take any science or social studies classes because that information would be irrelevant to what I will do in the future. I would spend my class time doing whatever I need to do to prepare for my future jobs and study what I need to be successful later in life. These classes would be more complex and would provide more education with what you need to know to be successful later in life.

The following article was in the September issue of The Tiger Print. Read the article (even if you already have) and respond to it below. What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? Consider all perspectives of the article while you respond.
I strongly agree to this article because, it's true, we are told we would be treated as young adults, but are told what we have to wear? It doesn't make sense to me. First off, I think the "thumb rule" is absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary because everyone's arms are different lengths. For example, I have really long legs and arms, and when I measure the "thumb rule" my thumbs go all the way to like almost my mid thigh. Nike running shorts aren't even that long, so what do they want me to wear? Bermudas? Sorry but that's not happening. I also don't understand how showing your shoulders can be a distraction to learning. What's wrong with spaghetti straps? They're no different from a normal tank top besides the amount of shoulder is showing. If our outfit was really that inappropriate, our parents probably wouldn't let us leave the house wearing it. I think that the dress code should be a little less strict and ridiculous than it is now. As long as our clothes don't show any part of our body that shouldn't be shown to the public, I don't see why we can't wear it.

Tell me about your weekend! If you don't have anything fun to share, tell me about the city you live in. What do you love about Kansas City? Do you have a favorite place in the city? Favorite team? :) Favorite event?Explain
Over the weekend I went to the fright night at Worlds of Fun with a group of my friends. Every year there is a group of eight of us that go to the fright night, but this year Sydney Rogers couldn't go because she has a fracture in her leg and didn't want to walk on it a lot. Another group of my friends went as well so we met up with them just for a little bit. It was absolutely freezing even though we all had coats, so that ruined lots of the fun. Also, it was super busy this time so the lines were crazy long. It was fun this year, but way more fun last year.
I also went bowling with my dance friends over the weekend. It was set up by a mom to have a bunch of girls on company go, but I was one of the only four out of sixteen seniors that showed up. It was super fun, but I didn't win.

Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!
On Friday, I cheered at the Homecoming football game against South West, and we smoked them 42-7. I went to Homecoming with Luke Bernard, and it was super fun. We went to Newport Grill for dinner, and pictures were at my house. There were twenty of us in our dinner group, and like thirtyish at pictures. We only went to the dance for like an hour because we wanted to go to straight to the after party. Overall, I had a fun time at Homecoming and I can't wait for the next dance.

Imagine Mr. Bacon has asked you to suggest one way of improving Blue Valley High School to make it a better place for students. Think about the changes that are needed at your school. Pick one change you feel would really make a difference and explain what it is and why you'd make the change.
If we could get every student a lap top to get checked out to them for the entire school year that they could take home as well as use them at school, I think that all students would have better grades.
I know the majority of the students at BVHS already have a lap top, but to have one checked out to use at school would be even better because it allows the easiest access to all documents no matter what. If we have our own computers there will be no excuses for not doing your homework. I know text books are already online, but if we have computers we don't have to have hard copies of the text book and that would help out everyone with super heavy backpacks that can potentially ruin student's backs later in life.

What are your favorite apps on your phone or tablet? Why?
My favorite apps on my phone are snapchat, twitter, messages, and bakery story. I love to snapchat and text people because it keeps me company when I get bored. I also like to look at people's snapchat stories because they're really funny and entertaining. Twitter is my favorite social media app because it's not only pictures, like Instagram, but it's also people's thoughts so I think that's kind of cool. Bakery story is literally the stupidest game ever but it's addicting. You basically have a bakery that you design and you make food. There are lots of other details and rules, but the main concept of the game is to run a bakery.

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"?
Email is a way to send mail on the computer. I use email in my personal life to send pictures, videos and documents to myself from the school computers, so I can work on whatever I need to at home. Older people are mainly the people who use email, also companies who try to send coupons and updates about their company. Older people use email as their main way of communication. For example, my grandma on my moms side still has a flip phone which obviously doesn't allow her to text so she communicates through email and calling. Email is more professional than texting, so if you wanted to contact a teacher or company, you would use email.
